  • Public Works - Maintenance Personnel
    Description
    The OLCN Public Works department are seeking applications to fulfill a full-time maintenance personnel position. This individual will be responsible for the general maintenance and repairs of all OLCN community buildings.
    Qualifications
    • Minimum of Grade twelve or equivalent and/or appropriate work experience in carpentry, plumbing and electrical • Mechanically inclined • Ability to operate equipment • Valid driver’s license • Must acquire all safety tickets • Willing to train All applicants must include a cover letter and resume. A Criminal Record and Child Welfare Check must also be submitted.

    Description
    Strong administrative skills are required to work as an Admin Assistant. Setting and maintaining an effective filing and information retrieval system, strong communication, writing and computer skills are essential. Must have a sense of administrative direction to think independently and problem solve while able to follow tasks as assigned or required. Must be able to compile reports, newsletters, letters, memos and agendas as required. A strong work ethic, self discipline and the ability to work well with others will make this job interesting and exciting.
    Qualifications
    A diploma or certificate in secretarial education or relevant discipline plus several years of related experience will be considered. We expect willingness to learn of the issues and matters pertinent to working in a treatment setting. Organizational & writing skills are essential. A clear Child Welfare and Criminal Record check is mandatory. Freedom from all use of controlled substances and a minimum of 18 months sobriety are a must. Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the Cree Language is highly recommended. Computer literacy and office management skills are essential.

  • Ekweskeet Healing Lodge - Prevention/ Outreach Worker
    Description
    Ekweskeet Healing Lodge is seeking a skilled and energetic individual to fill one (1) Outreach and Prevention worker position in the community of Onion Lake. The First Nation provides prevention, intervention, and treatment services regarding addiction and substance use. In this position, the incumbent will provide outreach and prevention activities to the general community in the field of addictions and related issues through presentations, lectures, and informational materials, outreach programming, and one to one counseling. Direction and referrals will be provided to clients with alcohol, drug, or other problems, such as prescription drug abuse and family violence intervention. Coordinate community education and assessment efforts with social workers, justice workers, wellness workers and mental health professionals. We expect collaboration and referrals to collateral services as part of an overall treatment strategy. Those with an aptitude for community work, treatment services and engagement of clients will experience success as part of a team of dedicated professionals.
    Qualifications
    A university degree, diploma or certificate in addictions, human services or relevant discipline plus several years of related experience will be considered. We expect demonstrated knowledge of issues regarding prevention, treatment, intervention and outreach in Aboriginal communities. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, referral and after care is essential. Organizational & writing skills are essential. A clear Child Welfare and Criminal Record check is mandatory. Freedom from all use of controlled substances and a minimum of two (2) years sobriety are a must. Knowledge of the Cree Language is highly recommended. Computer literacy is required.
