Mission Statement
Kihew Waciston will be the foundation for community enhancement of life long learning by awakening and practicing our traditional gift of language and culture.

GOAL #1
• To improve expressive (spoken) language.

GOAL #2
• To instill pride and a sense of identity in the student.

GOAL #3
• Increase parent awareness and involvement in the literacy process.

Objectives
• To promote student progress towards meeting expectations.
• To improve all students’ sense of identity, belonging and participation in the school.
• To promote the language at home and in the community.

Structures Promoting Student Success
1. Teachers will work with the catalyst teacher throughout the school year.
2. Develop an assessment in identifying students’ needs.
3. Utilize Smart boards and computer technology to teach literacy.
4. Professional Development on instructional programs and strategies.
5. For pre-school aged children, build early language skills at home by encouraging parental participation.
6. Utilize the library and classroom collections.
