Leadership
Onion Lake Cree Nation is governed by the Chief and seven, (7), Councilors. The success of Onion Lake has been in large part due to the vision and cohesiveness of the Chief and Council. Stability is very important; it ensures the commitment to the achievement of long term goals and objectives of the community.
The establishment of an Elders council provides advice and direction to the Chief and Councilors. The Executive Director of operations has implemented an administrative structure that ensures effective and efficient reporting from all departments and business interests.
The roles and responsibilities of department heads are clearly defined while staff is governed by established policies and procedures.
The Onion Lake leadership meet on a regular basis discussing priorities and new opportunities.
